What can I add?
- Base major medical event benefit: Accidents: up to R500,000 in hospital per event; heart attack or stroke: up to R250,000 in hospital per event; casualty up to R30,000 per event; maximum R2.5 million per member a year. Hospital cash R500 a day from day 1 if admitted for more than 48 hours (up to 40 days); R10,000 maternity lump sum; funeral benefit. Combined with the day-to-day level, premiums per principal member: Bronze R1,029, Silver R1,081, Gold R1,145.
- Standard major medical event benefit: Accidents: up to R1.5 million in hospital per event; heart attack or stroke: up to R500,000 per event; casualty up to R30,000 per event; maximum R5 million per member a year. Hospital cash R1,000 a day from day 1 if admitted for more than 48 hours (up to 20 days); R20,000 maternity lump sum; funeral benefit. Combined premiums per principal member: Bronze R1,143, Silver R1,195, Gold R1,259.
What waiting periods apply?
- Waiting periods apply to several benefits; Momentum does not list the periods in the 2026 brochure. Your Advisor confirms them on the quote.
Who can join?
- Designed for individuals earning less than R40,000 a month (Momentum brochure)
- Major medical event benefits can only be taken with a day-to-day benefit
Which doctors can I use?
Network GPs, dentists and optometrists, plus unlimited Hello Doctor virtual consultations.
What is not covered?
- Planned hospital admissions
- Specialised dentistry such as crowns, bridges, implants and root canals
- Specialist shortfalls above the benefit limit
